Time: 10:00 to 17:00

Come along to our American Independence celebrations on 1st & 2nd July at the Folk Park. Discover what it was like for emigrants who arrived on new shores just as America declared its independence.

The Minstrel Boys Living History Group will be with us exhibiting uniforms and weapons from the American Revolutionary War and the American Civil War, re-enacting firing displays throughout the day. You'll also be able to take a look at their weapons table and learn about the progression of firearms from the 1600s all the way to the 19th century.

There'll be live music on the frontier, entertainment for the little ones by Babcock & Bobbins, face painting and an air rifle shooting range! Visit the fur trapper and watch the reading of the 'Act of Independence' on American Street.

Our first-person interpreters will be demonstrating traditional skills all weekend long and there'll be tasty food samples to try like cornbread and apple butter.

Make sure to grab a bite to eat at 'BBQ in the Park', put on by Lilly Anne's Café!
